Collecting general information

When you visit our website, general information is automatically collected. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the web browser and operating system you used and the domain name of your Internet service provider, etc. This information cannot be used to identify you. This information is technically necessary for us to correctly display the content of web pages requested by you and is required when using the Internet. We analyse this kind of anonymous information so that we can optimise our website and the underlying technology.

Collection of personal data when visiting our website

(1) Access data

When using the website for information purposes only, i.e. if you do not register or transmit information to us in any other way, we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server. If you wish to view our website, we collect the following data that is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and to guarantee its stability and security (legal basis is Article 6.1, Sentence 1 (f) of the GDPR):

If you contact us by email or via a contact form, we store the data you provide (your name, email address, telephone number (if applicable), position at the company, sector in which the company is active) in order to answer your questions (the legal basis is Article 6.1, Sentence 1 (f) of the GDPR). When storage is no longer necessary, we will delete the applicable data or restrict the processing thereof if legal retention requirements apply.


In addition to the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your computer or device when you use our websites. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies help us make our websites more user-friendly, more effective and more secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and stored in browser directories.

Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”. They are automatically deleted after your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to recognise your browser the next time you visit.

SSL encryption

To secure your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption techniques (such as SSL) via HTTPS.

Use of script libraries (Google Fonts)

In order to make sure that our content and page designs are displayed correctly in different browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries on our websites (e.g. Google Fonts ( Google Fonts are transferred to the cache of your browser to prevent multiple loading. If the browser does not support or prohibits access to Google Fonts, content will be displayed in a standard font. Calling script libraries or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the operator of the library. It is theoretically possible that operators of such libraries also collect data. Embedded YouTube videos

On some of the pages on our websites we embed YouTube videos. The corresponding plug-in is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page featuring the YouTube plug-in, it will connect to YouTube’s servers. As such, YouTube will be informed about which pages you visit. If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube can link your surfing behaviour to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account before viewing the video posted on our website. Once a YouTube video starts playing, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behaviour. If you have disabled the storage of cookies for the Google Ad program, those cookies are also disabled when you watch YouTube videos. Registering for Berliner Salon events

You can register for Berliner Salon events on our website. When registering, the data you provide (your name, email address, telephone number (if applicable), your position at the company, sector in which the company is active as well as the details of the accompanying person(s)) is stored by us. The legal basis is Article 6.1, Sentence 1 (b) of the GDPR. When storage is no longer necessary, we will delete the applicable data or restrict the processing thereof if legal retention requirements apply.

Applying to participate in the Berliner Salon

You can apply online for a slot via our website. For this purpose, we collect the following mandatory information: company, title, contact person (first and last name), street, house number, postcode, town, country, telephone number and email address. The legal basis is Article 6.1, Sentence 1 (b) of the GDPR. Mandatory fields are specially marked; other information is voluntary (fax, website).


Our websites contain links to other websites, e.g. to external websites and offers of our partner companies. We check these links carefully and the respective external websites usually have their own privacy policies. We do no accept any responsibility for privacy polices that are not related to MKMK GmbH/Der Berliner Salon. We recommend that you check with the provider of the external website regarding their data protection procedures. Under no circumstances are we responsible for the content of linked websites. Furthermore, MKMK GmbH/Der Berliner Salon is not responsible for the content of websites that refer or link to us.

Use of Google Analytics

Our websites use Google Analytics; a web analysis service of Google Inc. (hereafter referred to as “Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, i.e. text files, that are stored on your computer to help us analyse how people are using our website. The information about your use of our websites generated by the cookie is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymisation is activated on these websites, your IP address will first be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or other member states of the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the US and shortened there. Orders through our websites


There are two ways to place orders on our websites; as a guest without registering or by setting up a customer account to make the ordering process more efficient in future. Registering as a customer might be useful for you; the next time you want to place an order you can simply log in to our online shop straight away using your email address and password (i.e., you do not have to re-enter your contact details).

You enter your personal data in the relevant fields, which is then transferred to and stored by us. If you place an order via our websites, we collect the following data (regardless of whether you set up a customer account or purchase an item as a guest):

  • Telephone number (landline and/or mobile)

We collect this data so that we can

  • process, fulfil and handle your order

We ask for your consent to process this information during the ordering process. We process the data you provide in order to complete your order and/or registration. This data is required for us to be able to process your order properly and to fulfil the obligations arising from the purchase agreement. The legal basis for this is Article 6.1 Sentence 1 (b) of the GDPR. The personal data collected by us for the processing of your order is stored until the end of the statutory retention period and then deleted, unless we are obliged to store the data for longer due to tax and commercial requirements (in line with Commercial Code, German Criminal Code, German Tax Code) (legal basis is Article 6.1 Sentence 1 (c) of the GDPR) or unless you have given your consent for us to store your data for a longer period in accordance with Article 6.1 Sentence 1 (a) of the GDPR.
