‘DER BERLINER SALON’ is an initiative committed to promoting German creative talent at a national and international level.
Under the auspices of ‘DER BERLINER MODE SALON’, both renowned and up-and-coming German fashion designers are provided a platform on which to present their creations to the world’s press and buyers in sophisticated and elegant surroundings. ‘DER BERLINER MODE SALON’, founded in January 2015 by Christiane Arp, Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Germany, and Marcus Kurz, CEO at Nowadays, has become the cornerstone of the salon concept.
Following the successful establishment of the mode salon, ‘DER BERLINER FOTOGRAFIE SALON’ was launched in April 2016 to coincide with ‘Gallery Weekend Berlin’. This new format aspires to improve the accessibility of distinctive talent of German portrait & fashion photographers in the art world.
It is no coincidence that the salons are organised in Berlin’s historical centre; it was here that the salon culture gained popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries.
